One-on-one counselling provides an opportunity for people to openly talk about their thoughts and feelings while being supported by a professional and caring psychotherapist. Clients often seek individual therapy due to some recent stress in their lives, or due to an ongoing conflict they have been unable to resolve alone. Although some people initially worry that talking about themselves will be awkward or uncomfortable, most clients find individual sessions enjoyable and growth enhancing.

Therapy can be considered a massage for the mind or physical therapy for the emotions. While the client gains greater awareness of her/his thoughts and feelings, the therapist acts as a non-judgemental facilitator, helping the individual recognize patterns and finding ways to avoid past problems.

Common issues addressed include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Relationship Problems
  • Recent Life Changes
  • Family Stress
  • Addictions
  • Career Problems
  • Parenting Issues
  • Loss and Mourning
  • Self-Esteem, Confidence and Assertiveness
  • Childhood Abuse (Physical, Emotional, Sexual)
  • Food Issues and Self Image

Sessions last 60 minutes. The sessions are confidential between you and the counsellor. The only time confidentiality is breached is when the therapist fears for your safety or another person’s safety.
